Financing your education at SJC
May 6, 2013
This semester, I worked some hours in our financial aid office in order to get a better understanding of how financial aid works and what we are doing to communicate the role of financial aid, how it works, and what changes are made each year to the students. I have found that the financial aid office provides many opportunities to apply for financial aid and understand their awards, but may be underutilized by the students. Incoming freshmen and transfers can… More >>

We had an awesome Admitted Student Reception this past Sunday at the SJC Long Island Campus. Our incoming freshmen joined us for a beautiful day. We had breakfast and the current students welcomed the incoming students.

Then our welcoming session began. It was presented by our Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, President, and Director of Financial Aid.

It was pretty packed, but we got everyone… More >>
Admitted freshmen, are you ready?
March 13, 2013
Spring will be here next week and with it comes our Admitted Student Reception. Every year we host our admitted freshmen for the upcoming fall in April to hear from the college president, speakers, current students, and faculty. This year it will be April 7, and we are really looking forward to it. We have a great group of admitted students. My favorite part is always the student panel, where current students answer the questions of the prospective students. Great… More >>
Mastering education in 5 year programs
February 19, 2013
It has been a bit since the last post, but a lot has been going on at SJC. We just learned about the new 5 year BA/MA programs that were approved by the start and starting this fall! Very exciting stuff. This means that along with our established Math Adolescence Education 5 dual degree program, we are now adding in a master’s in special education to our English, history, chemistry, Spanish, and math education undergraduate programs. These 5 year programs… More >>
Fall Open House and Superstorm Sandy
November 30, 2012

This year, Long Island saw the worst storm it had seen in a very, very long time. There was a lot of devastation and destruction throughout the area. A minor casualty of the storm was that our Long Island Campus had to cancel our Open House… twice. We originally had it scheduled for November 4, but the College was closed until the 5th. So after some adjustments, we rescheduled for November 11. But a… More >>

It’s back to school time in two weeks from today and soon the currently hibernating campus will be swarming again with fresh new freshmen and transfers and our returning students! I have been asking our student staff how they feel about the summer winding down and they are ready for the Fall to begin and so are we! How could we not be?

Summer fun and events
July 16, 2012
This summer has been a busy one for us in admissions at SJC. Only one and a half months until the first day of class and while I am definitely NOT trying to rush summer, I am excited to welcome our new students this fall. We have some great events like Freshmen Orientation, Welcome Back BBQ, Club Fair and a lot of other events set up every fall for the incoming students.
Some students are still kind of unsure where they… More >>
Summer Kick-off 2012
June 13, 2012
It has been too long since our last post, but what a whirlwind our Freshmen Registration was! We loved having the incoming Class of 2016 on campus to kick off the summer. We have also been setting up our students who are transferring in with schedules as well. Though both groups still have time to register through the summer.
Speaking of kicking off the summer, we had Andy Grammer on campus last week for our Summer Kick-off Concert! We had a… More >>

Student Perspective: Getting out of the car and into a club
March 1, 2012
Guest student blogger Katie shares her experiences on getting involved at St. Joseph’s College. She is currently a freshman Child Study major.

As an incoming freshman, all you hear around the campus is “Get involved.” During Freshman Orientation, in your first year experience class, and all throughout your first couple of weeks of class, this is the word all over campus. Some of the freshman don’t listen to… More >>
